The Challenge

Dropupp sought new users in Philadelphia's market amid fierce competition.


Dropupp sought to gain new users in Philadelphia's competitive on-demand pickup market. With apps like Returnmates, DoorDash, and Uber already dominant, Dropupp faced an uphill battle. However, the startup aimed to differentiate itself by targeting busy, convenience-driven working mothers for returns. Dropupp hoped its pickup focus would help attract its ideal users amid fierce competition.

We developed a target persona aligned with Dropupp's positioning as an on-demand pickup service for busy moms. 

Using this persona of a convenience-driven mother, we tailored the landing page and "About Us" messaging to resonate with our intended audience. The copy focused on how Dropupp could save precious time and simplify hectic schedules. 

We also shifted the activation strategy from a 7-day free trial to a freemium model offering two free pickups without time limits. This allowed new users to experience the service without rushed pressure. Post-activation, we implemented a viral loop referral program to spur signups. 

Existing users could share Dropupp’s freemium plan and, once the referred signed up, the user who referred would receive one month free.

The Deliverables

Seeking user growth, we honed in on a target audience and tailored our messaging specifically for them. We then implemented a freemium model to allow this audience to activate and try our product risk-free. Finally, we introduced a referral program so satisfied users would recruit their peers, driving viral adoption.

Created messaging focused on the target persona using copy and images.
