In this sprint, we'll help you understand what personas are and guide you through the process of creating your first set of personas.
Why This Sprint Matters
Personas are the second sprint in Olivine Playbooks. After you've figured out what your company is all about by defining your brand positioning, mission and vision, it's critical to flesh out who you're building it for - using personas!
We've worked with dozens of companies to guide them through this personas process and we're always a bit amazed at the power they have in bringing cross-functional teams together. It's a simple process really. You'll be coming up with a set of target or current users and then building a profile for each of them, going beyond just key demographics like name, age and job title. You'll get inside their minds to imagine what their pain points are, what their goals are in their job, and why they would even need your product or solution in the first place.
At the end of the personas process, you'll have 4-6 key user profiles, as well as a list of questions so you can talk to these users and validate whether your assumptions are correct. We encourage you to follow through on the validating personas section of this sprint because that's where many of the real gems come from. We can't stress enough how powerful it is to talk to your customers on a regular basis and validating your personas is the perfect excuse to do so.
