Crafting your mission and vision statements

After answering the why, you’re ready to define what exactly you are building and put that into a mission and vision statement.

Mission and Vision Statements 

We get a lot of questions about the difference between a mission and a vision. We think of them as:

Mission statement: What your company is currently delivering to the market and the world.

Vision statement: How your company plans to impact the market or the world in the future.

Here are some visionary statements MailChimp has outlined on its ‘about’ page that clearly defines where the company is headed:

From this vision, we can see that Mailchimp sees itself as far more than just an email tool. It’s a communication platform that cares about the impact it has on its employees and community.
